Dear Hurricane Florence:
Kindly make up your mind. Where are you going? I’d like to know if I’m going to have to go to work and schedule meetings for Monday.

It was all sunny and nice outside today, as if the mother nature were pretending she wasn't gonna hit us with tons of rain and powerful winds very soon. Classes are cancelled tomorrow & Friday, but we're still expected to report to work, which is fine (I am just like that infamous minister of education who liked schools better when students weren't there) because I've been already getting cabin fever from staying in bed with the flu for a week now. Yesterday I used Publix delivery for the first time I stocked food and water. Today with J's help (I still don't have too much energy) I took the cat to the vet to get his meds, filled up my tank, withdrew some cash, prepared my flashlights/batteries/candles/lighters/chargers and piled up my books to read during the hurricane. Since my apartment is on the first floor, I feel like I should be preparing some sandbags just in case but I don't know where to start (Funny how I never had to do that when I was living in Florida!). Apparently, up to 3 million people in my area will lose power, even if Florence doesn't come into our city directly, so -according to my electric company- I "could be without power for a very long time – not days, but weeks." Yikes! But also, if it is a short time thing, it could be a nice/distraction-free research/book-reading time, so who knows? Sure is nice living in the “we have no idea what’s going to happen with Hurricane Florence” zone!
