My favorite line in Sense and Sensibility involves Elinor, who is forced into conversation with this arrogant guy at a party - the guy talks himself up so much and he sounds like such an idiot that Austen writes: "Elinor agreed to it all, for she did not think he deserved the compliment of rational opposition. " 200 years later, this is still the *mood*! I can't decide if Austen was so far ahead of her time or the times are still so far behind Jane Austen.
