You build up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life… You give them a piece of you. They didn’t ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn’t your own anymore. You no longer want reminders of what was, what got broken, what got lost, what got wasted. One day you finally know what you have to do…and begin.
Maybe “What I want is to be needed. What I need is to be indispensable to somebody. Who I need is somebody that will eat up all my free time, my ego, my attention. Somebody addicted to me. A mutual addiction.”
I really don’t know what that means. I think it is just another way of saying "Don’t leave me here alone."
