Generally I am not good at noticing when I’m happy, except in retrospect. But this time it feels different, it feels like I'm on cloud nine most of the time. I went to the Bahamas for a day, and it solved most of my problems. I wrote my second chapter, and Dr. B. was so happy with the progress I was making that he promised to fund me for another semester -yay!! I went to D's "dictators party" as Catherine the Great, had a lot of fun (a nice theme for a poli.sci. party, I must say!) and earned a reward for being "most likely to get killed by their own people" :) I got a lot of stuff done, like completing my IRB process (finally, with just one revision!), buying plane tickets to DC, booking rooms for the conference, working out twice a week and guess-lecturing a class on "Containing Islam". Needless to say, Carrot was impressed. On top of that, yesterday I had the most relaxing day in a while, as we went to the beach, baked in the sun until I was radiating joy, had an amazing dinner and crepes for dessert and, more importantly, had no single thing to make me restless and anxious. Oh! Thank God, I am back! I am back from whatever hellish turmoil I was in before. Life feels lighter, a bit more like Gene Kelly dancing in the rain. "Wouldn’t we be quite the pair?—you with your bad heart, me with my bad head. Together, though, we might have something worthwhile.” How amazing it is to find someone who wants to hear about all the things that go on in your head, though! Sometimes I feel selfish for making him tolerate me for so long. | ||
