Recently I found myself in the midst of the weirdest drama: my boyfriend's ex girlfriend has a crush on me, and she is not afraid to say that, not to my face, but to my friends from the department -AND she doesn't even know them that well! Obviously I had no idea about this, because -first of all, she never talks to me in person (only on Facebook, and that's mostly about the class I am teaching), and second, I did not know she was the "crazy ex" A. was seeing two summers ago. But for some reason, A. was stupid enough to tell her that he "started from the bottom" and now "upgraded" to dating me (I won't even go into the details of how disrespectful it is and how mad it makes me -this kind of objectification is not even flattering, it's just WRONG on so many levels!), and I don't even know how and in which context this kind of conversation might have taken place. On the other hand, I could have understood her obsession, and just said she was heartbroken and it was normal - ONLY IF she had not been really creepy about it. Nowadays she just goes out of her way to sit close to me in the library, likes my photos on Facebook from years ago, goes to one of my friends under the pretext of having an interview with her about European politics and asks stuff about me, sees me around the campus but never says hi, but then comes and stands by me when I am clearly on the phone and not paying attention to her, and -I don't know- just tells everyone and their mother how she finds me really attractive. So weird! I don't know how to handle this and I am wondering when exactly my boring life has turned into a soap opera. | ||
