Yesterday in class we talked about integration problems in Europe, alienation of Muslim groups, and the radical responses to that; and the very same day in Paris, this exact thing occurred. It’s so heartbreaking and sad to witness these atrocities, and see that people turn to terrorism and violence to make statements. And it's absolutely sickening to hear that they were all done "in the name of religion."
I'm cancelling the class on multiculturalism on Monday and having a debate on the Paris attacks instead. How ironic. I hate it when my research and course becomes relevant in this way.
