"How people do hate Catholics and what happiness it was to thousands to have a chance to show [that hatred] in what seemed like a lawful and patriotic manner." — Future U.S President Rutherford B. Hayes, 1854. File this under: “everything old is new again” On another uplifting note, I feel less productive nowadays, because 1) I still didn't get the feedback from my advisor, even though he's usually on top of things. The hardest part is that the longer I wait, the less I feel like continuing to work while waiting. 2) Now that the dissertation is almost done, I have to go back and write the introductory chapter, by making grandiose statements about what I'm trying to accomplish. But the problem is that I. Hate. Writing. Introductions. They are the woooooooorst! 3) It’s so easy to go from “I have energy and am excited to write!” to “When will they invent a machine that can just suck the words out of my brain while I’m watching TV?” Can I skip ahead to the part where I’ve rebuilt good work habits, I’ve refamiliarized myself with the chapter and the research, and I’m just full of ideas and typing madly? | ||
