Done!! DONE, DONE!!
Things went well yesterday! Dissertation was defended, my papers were signed, champagne was drunk, celebratory dinner was eaten, and I was called "Doctor" for the first time ever! There is a light at the end of the tunnel, folks. I promise.
As usual, I started a little nervous and then just found my rhythm and relaxed and the rest went really well. I got some really good questions and I think I answered them well, too. I had some questions from one of committee members who does field research in the Sahel, which I know only the teensiest about, but based on his face, I think I answered correctly. I guess I didn’t need to worry so much?
But I was really, really exhausted after that. We had a nice dinner with A. in an authentic Italian restaurant just outside the city, then came home to watch a few episodes of OITNB, and then I just passed out. It was really like a huge weight was lifted, and I could sleep well for the first time in months. Mainly because I stayed at A.'s place and Poppy wasn't there to wake me up :P
And now! Time for Miami!!! We're leaving in the morning, but I may just sleep a lot.
