I just received an e-mail from a colleague, saying that they had a department photo day in the morning and "sorry that they missed me" but they will have another one in the Spring anyways. So I told her that I didn't know there was going to be a photo shoot today, and I made an appointment and wasn't in my office because of that. To which she replied, "yeah, no one sent an e-mail about it but we managed to round everyone up except you" -what is that? A bullshit excuse for not inviting me? A preemptive note for the disappointment I'll have when I see that photo posted on the school website? A passive aggressive way of telling me that I shouldn't be anywhere else during business hours? Blaming me for not being there? And how hard is it really, to send me an e-mail and tell me about it once you see I'm not in the department -I mean, I basically live across the street, it'd take me literally five minutes to get to the room they were taking the photo in? Doesn't anyone have the decency to let me know beforehand? Of course I didn't say any of that, actually I said nothing and just rolled my eyes at the response, but I felt excluded nonetheless. I know it's no big deal, I know I won't even care the next time I see any of them and still be nice and all that but still..When I try so hard to become a part of this community, can't I expect at least some effort from them? Meh. Whatever. Gonna go pick up my dress for Shelby's wedding now. I'm super, super excited to see them all this weekend, all thanks to my life partner who's doing all she can to fly me down south! | ||
