"He’s so deeply unpleasant—rude, short-tempered, overdramatic, ugly, unkempt, seemingly dim-witted, willfully ignorant—that you don’t really take him seriously until clueless adults repeatedly fall for his lies."

Who am I talking about: Count Olaf or Donald Trump?

Upon further reflection I’m fairly certain Trump is Count Olaf in disguise and we’re all the Baudelaires, while all the adults are representative of the other part of America who don’t see a problem, despite how many times they are told about it.
Even as a kid, I remember reading the book and being the most hurt and betrayed not by the main villains who were cartoonishly evil and despicable, but by the characters who were given the opportunity to do good things or to speak up in unjust situations, but ultimately didn’t because they were too cowardly.
