The same old saga. Faulty explanations, tired jokes. Jokes weren't the answer, I suppose.
Turkey, my beautiful country, I love you. The history, the landscapes, the culture, the art, the architecture, the 5885290 different dialects with hands moving at the speed of light, good tasting food at every corner etc. BUT please get over “the world is against us, the super powers like USA and Germany doesn’t want us to be strong that’s why the economy’s bad” phase as soon as possible. Populism is destroying your institutions and such a widely-believed lie is breaking my heart & giving my poli.sci. brain a massive headache.
Read a poem this morning, Jamie Hirshfield I think? Something like: "In sorrow, pretend to fear nothing. In happiness, tremble." & it really connected with the advice of a friend yesterday to just, well, chill out & stop trying to control everything and let things be how they'll be.
