I don’t think students have any concept at all of how exhausting grading is. For me, it is a constant battle between wanting to give thorough feedback and not wanting to spend 90 minutes on a 300-word summary. Yet, if I want to skip the feedback part, half of the entire grading process becomes just highlighting unsubstantiated claims and finding a nice academic way to say “…you sure about that, Caroline?”

I’ve been embroiled in higher ed for about 15 years now and in case anyone was wondering, no, the end of the semester never gets any easier.

Goals: to be that professor students are in love with but also afraid of :/
