In the midst of the chaos, wondering whether anything I am doing makes much difference in this time of upheaval, I received a note from a former student, along with a gift card to our favorite restaurant, which read:
As an advisor, a teacher, and a role model, you have inspired me beyond measure. Thank you for believing in the worth of my work and pushing me to do the same. Learning from you will remain one of the greatest joys of my time here.
I'm not crying, you're crying.
I love those who are unafraid to be excited about learning – there aren’t as many of them, but they exist. And I totally am thankful for that fact. <3
