A typical synchronous class session involves:
1. Monitoring participants to make sure (a) everyone who is supposed to be here is here; (b) no one who isn’t supposed to be here is here; (c) no one is stuck in the waiting room; (d) no one has their mic on when they shouldn’t; (e) no one is doing something inappropriate on camera.
2. Monitoring the classroom to make sure (a) no one has a question; (b) no one is taking off their masks or wearing them inappropriately; (c) you respond/ moderated any discussion; (d) you engage the students in conversation in small groups especially those ones who do not want to talk publicly.
3. Sharing slides and making sure nothing on the shared screen is inappropriate (and if you're showing a video, making sure the sound is on both in class and on Zoom)
4. Taking note of students' participation.

In sum, I am constantly confused about where to look at when and always concerned I missed something inappropriate.

On top of everything, yesterday morning, Zoom was down and I was still working on a paper that was due last semester! It's just been a week & Fall 2020 has already exhausted me to the bone. Thankfully, the day was productive - not productive in the ways I was planning on it being, but productive for sure. I at least submitted the paper and spent some quality time with A. because I needed more comfort than I thought I might.

Sigh.
The pain index has been revised. It now goes up to 15.
