Looks like 1774 all over again - "securing the independence" of new territories and "protecting" the minorities and all that. We all know how it ended.

And now Kosovo is asking for NATO membership. Vlad’s doing a great job with European unity. Remarkable. Win or lose (probably a short-term win), the Russians have exposed that they are a medium-weight ground power these days. It’s stunning.

Burned out. Saying no. Stepping down. Turning things down. Just two more writing commitments this year and I never want to work weekends again. At least seeing my dear friends yesterday and being around people I love improved my mood a little bit.
